The Tower of Hercules is an ancient Roman lighthouse on a peninsula about 2.4 km from the centre of A Coruña, Galicia, in north-western Spain. Until the 20th century, the tower was known as the "Farum Brigantium". The Latin word farum is derived from the Greek Φάρος Pharos for the Lighthouse of Alexandria. It stands 55 metres tall and overlooks the North Atlantic coast of Spain. The structure, built in the 2nd century and renovated in 1791, is the oldest lighthouse in use today. Book this experienceThis is a gastronomic experience like no other at La Coruña to discover Galician specialities. After our ‘chocolate con churros’ at Pencil & Fork, we will visit with David, our local foodie, the vibrant food market at the Plaza de Lugo. A great opportunity to learn about the Galician gastronomic culture. David will buy all products we will need for the evening Cooking Masterclass. It will then be time for an ‘aperitivo’ so we’ll go to a local bar specialised in ‘vermouth’ to taste this aromatised wine. The vermouth will open our appetite, thus we will enjoy a tapas lunch and dessert at a fine ‘taberna’ nearby. The first part of our day will be over around 15:30 to have some free time. At 19:00 we’ll come back to Pencil & Fork for our Cooking Masterclass. After a welcome cocktail, we will all prepare a delicious seafood dinner poured with a nice local wine or beer too, of course. We will finish around 21:30. The Pencil & Fork team: David & Ana will be your British-Spanish hosts.
